MOVIE CRITIC TAŞÇIYAN NAMED MEMBER OF EFA

Turkish movie critic Alin Taşçıyan has been named an institutional member of the European Film Academy.

Taşçıyan was invited to the Academy as an institutional member of the Academy.

She has been a jury member for the EFA Discovery Award for past two years.

Currently the vice president of the International Federation of film Critics (FIPRESCI), Taşçıyan became the first Turkish institutional member elected to the Academy.

Other EFA members named from Turkey are director Nuri Bilge Ceylan,  Yeşim Ustaoğlu, Semih Kaplanoğlu, Özcan Alper, Seyfi Teoman ve Hüseyin Karabey, producer Zeynep Özbatur Atakan, actor  Ercan Kesal, directors of photography Barış Özbiçer and Gökhan Tiryaki. Accomplished Turkish origin German director Fatih Akın is a member on behalf of both Turkey and Germany.

Movie makers who have been nominated for EFA award are considered Academy members. Institutional members, on the other hand, are elected as a result of offers by at least two Academy members.
